Strawberry – Grapefruit Smoothie from Whole Living Magazine
Makes three 1 ¾ cup servings
1 grapefruit, peeled, seeded, and chopped
2 cups hulled fresh or frozen strawberries
1 sweet apple
1 inch fresh ginger
1 cup water
Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
Green Machine Smoothie from Whole Living Magazine
Makes 2 servings
Combine:
6 chopped romaine leaves
4 chopped kale leaves
½ cup fresh parsley sprigs
½ cup chopped pineapple
½ cup chopped mango
1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
1 ½ cups water
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Green Smoothie
1 cup kale
1 Granny Smith apple
1 banana
½ cup parsley
Beet and Carrot Smoothie
1 small beet, medium carrot, steamed until tender
Blend with 1 sweet apple, 1 ripe pear, 2 Tbsp. lemon juice, 2 tsp. minced ginger
Hot Chocolate Smoothie (from Dr. Ben Kim)
3/4 cup water
2-3 teaspoons of raw chocolate powder
1 ripe banana (mashed)
a pinch of nutmeg
a pinch of cinnamon
2 teaspoons of honey
Blend it all together and heat it in the microwave or on the stove. Delicious, healthful–and warm!
Warm Banana Spice Smoothie
1 banana (helps if it’s ripe)
1/4 inch knob of fresh ginger
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup of HOT almond milk
Warm the banana in the microwave for 20-30 seconds, heat the milk on the stove, then put everything in a blender. 2 minutes and done!
Blueberry Cottage Cheese Breakfast Bake (from Love & Healthy Tips on FB)
1 c cottage cheese / I’m required to use low fat/fat free cottage cheese
1/2 c rolled oats / Quaker is my go to
1/2 c fresh blueberries
2 large eggs
1/4 c honey
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350degrees F (175degrees C)
grease small baking dish (8x8inch) or use individual ramekins
Blend cottage cheese, oats, eggs, honey vanilla and cinnamon in a blender or food processor until creamy (like a custard)
For a chunkier texture – simply whisk everything together in a bowl without blending.
Gently fold in fresh blueberries.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 25-30 min, or until the top is set and golden brown.
let it cool for 5 mins before serving
Enjoy warm, as is, or topped with yogurt, nuts or extra honey!
